The Witch of the Gingerbread House

"Hansel, I'm hungry," I said, tugging on my big brother's sleeve as we continued to walk. "I know, Gretel," he said, "Me too..." We had been wandering in the forest for what seemed like forever, trying to find our way out. A few days ago, our stepmother had taken us into the forest while our father was out working. "Stay here, children," she had said to us, before turning around to leave. "B-but, I'm scared!" I cried out. She turned around and glared at me. "Stay! Here!" she yelled, with a fero- feroci-... an anger that had stunned us. Frightened, Hansel and I could only quietly look back at her, hoping that she would change her mind. "Good," she said instead, "Stay here. I'll be back for you shortly." Then, she turned around and left. I started to cry soon after, though Hansel did his best to comfort me. We waited for what seemed like hours, until Hansel decided that we should try to find our way home ourselves. And so, we had wandered the forest for the last few days. We were cold

Death shall come for his siblings when the multiverse ends. It is his duty to kill his siblings when all life throughout the multiverse has died. Then, in the end, he shall extinguish himself

The Case of the Broken Hearts - Epilogue

Sheryl sat on the edge of her bed, with her head in her hands, thinking about the day's events. Mike walked in and leaned on the doorway, "I heard that you and Watson were arguing at the precinct today." "Yeah." Mike stood there for a few more moments, looking at his sister with concern. Then, he decided to leave her alone with her thoughts, "Alright, if you need me, I'll be watching the game." Mike turned to leave, but Sheryl stopped him, asking, "Was I that bad, Mike?" Mike hesitated, but in the end, he said, "Sometimes." "Oh." "Look, kid, don't beat yourself up too much about it. Neither of you were perfect." Sheryl contemplated th

After-School Detectives - 10th and 11th Cases

Katie's First Case It was the beginning of a new school year; the eighth grade for me. On the Monday of the second week of school, Sheryl Holmes declared, "We need new members!" She wasn't wrong. After all, there was only the three of us in the After-School Detectives. Strangely (well, not really, considering what happened over summer vacation), the last member of our small club, Samantha, hadn't shown up yet. "Let's wait for Sam-" As soon as I began to utter her name, Samantha popped into the room. "Sorry I'm late...," she said, devoid of her usual bubbly energy. Instead, it was replaced with an awkwardness as soon as she noticed me. A
